The care ministry at HVBC is spontaneous and organic but also has some structure in place.

Members of the congregation are encouraged to spontaneously care, in their own way, for those who God places in their path and within the faith community. This is often done in the context of life groups and ministry groups.

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
— John 13:34-35

However, there is also an organised and structured side to this care and shepherding ministry that is carried out by church leaders, Eartha Odell the Ministry Leader for Pastoral Care and a team of those that understand the different levels of care, higher levels of support and confidentiality required in this ministry. Those involved in this team prayerfully minister “extra care”, visit people, make phone calls, do practical work, transport someone to hospital or make and deliver someone a meal.
