School Church Missionaries

Ryan & Sarina Sherring

The Hawkesbury, possibly even the world, has yet to see what God can do in, through, for and with a generation of young people completely devoted to Him. With such an army, the grounds of hell would be shaken and people would see the glory of God revealed through the lives of these radical young followers of Jesus.

Vision

A Church planted in every High School. Led by students. Passionately devoted to following Jesus Christ.

 Who is Ryan?

Some would say a surfy with no beach in sight. Others would say a secret admirer of the Backstreet Boys. But most would say a guy who loves Jesus, loves his family, loves young people and is passionate about making Jesus known in the generations to come.

"All my life I heard about Jesus and saw the power of what it meant to know Him and follow Him in my family and church. I was 12 when the reality of my own choice hit me - to follow the way I had seen or go my own way. I knew I couldn't deny the reality of Jesus and chose to follow Him. But it wasn't unitl I was 19 that I really experienced the freedom and hope of Jesus in a powerful way, when He broke through my struggle for perfection and showed me His unstoppable love and passionate value of me through the cross. This powerful encounter with Jesus changed my life.

I have spent the last 10 years of my life investing into young people, seeking to see them become radical, passionate and devoted followers of Jesus through ministry at HVBC. Throughout this time I worked for 3 years as a gym instructor, studied & completed my Advanced Diploma of Theology/Ministry through Morling College, and forged ahead the youth ministry of HVBC.

Now God has clarified our calling further to see a movement of radical, passionate and devoted young people across His church raise up and lead in His power where they are at, for His glory. I believe that they are called to lead churches in their schools."

Ryan's Role?

To go and make disciples. To partner with local youth leaders and student leaders, to see Jesus made known in their schools and communities.

Ryan's Family

Ryan is married to his beautiful wife Sarina, and has two children Seth, and Lily. They are seeking to live this life of mission together and are fully committed to fulfilling the call God has placed on their hearts for these generations to come.

Samaritan's Purse Australia and New Zealand

Samaritan's Purse is an international ministry of compassion drawing its name from the story of the Good Samaritan.

Luke 10:30-37 .

For over 35 years, Samaritan's Purse has reached out to hurting people in countries around the world. Here in Australia and New Zealand, Samaritan’s Purse has been independently run since 1995, focussing on our immediate Southeast Asian and Pacific neighbours, including Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, Papua New Guinea, Fiji and the Solomon Islands as well as to Indigenous Australians in the Kimberleys and Northern Territory.

HVBC supports Operation Christmas Child each year and is the collection point for the Hawkesbury district. This shoe box program sends a message of love, hope and joy to children in our region. However Samaritan's Purse also coordinates emergency relief programs, providing desperately needed assistance to victims of natural disaster, war, disease, and famine. They offer food, water, and temporary shelter and give people a chance to rebuild their lives. They also offer community development programs, building schools, installing wells and water filters, initiating feeding programs, improving sanitation to prevent disease, and offering vocational programs to help people break the cycle of poverty and give them hope for a better tomorrow.

When people ask the teams why they do what they do, the answer is always the same: "We have come to help you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. “We love because He first loved us” (1 John 4:19).

Fingerprints on Asia Pacific

The amazing thing about fingerprints is that they leave small unique marks on everything we contact evidence of our presence, our involvement, our touch, an impression of us that lingers even after we have gone.

Dig a Hole || Refill a Bottle || Turn on the Tap

Dig a hole - find water. Most of us have only done it at the beach - we would not need to elsewhere. For 884 million people in the world a hole deep enough could save their life. Visit http://www.turnonthetap.org.au to find out how one bottle full of $2 coins could bring safe water to TWO communities...

Cambodia Support

ImageA big thank you to all who have contributed to giving the many children in Cambodia a better Christmas by filling a shoebox for Operation Christmas Child. We collected 195 boxes last year. Another way to helping our brothers and sisters in Christ in Cambodia is by purchasing a hand made card, made by the poorest, so they can earn a wage and become more self-sufficient, while giving them more hope for the future. Purchase of craft items made by Cambodians is another way in which you can support the people.

HVBC also supports Barry Higgins and Fiona Morgan who work in rehabilitation and mediation. By purchasing a project ranging from $8 - $135 you can help them help the people of Cambodia.

A number of our members are actively involved in the work of MMM. MMM provides building labour free of charge so that Christian Ministries can be released from building, renovating and maintenance works and are able to focus on their work of reaching out with the love of Christ.

Ministries assisted include education, health care, outreach,  evangelism and local and overseas churches and faith missions both in Australia and around the world. You can find out more about the work of MMM at their website http://www.mmm.org.au/

East Timor

A team of young people, four from our church, visited East Timor for the first time in 2007. They went with a group from Yooralla Youth Ministries and worked on the construction of Houses of Hope.  Yooralla Youth Ministries Australia is a non-profit, non-denominational Christian Youth Ministry. They work with local church communities and other organisations both in Australia and overseas to improve the present conditions of people through physical assisatance, emotional improvement and spiritual reconciliation with God. Yooralla's journey started in late 1996 with a small team of friends committed to one thing above all else:-

Impacting lives through the Gospel of Jesus Christ by our actions, our love for others, in our compassion for the lost and also in our words.   (see Matthew 28:19-20)
