All families have moments in their journey together that cause them to look back to the past to remember where they have been and to reflect on the changes that have taken place in the meantime. For those who attend HVBC now, this photo either reminds them of past associations and shared experiences or gives them an opportunity to pick out who was there back then. Little children are little children no longer, families have grown, waistlines may also have grown, wrinkes may have been added, hair may be thinning or a different style and colour and people have moved on to other places and other communities of faith. Some eight years on from this photo, we look back on the leading of God through all the changes in our years at North Richmond and have confidence in the future He is planning for us. All along the way, we seek God's direction in everything we do, but in a special sense we have looked to Him this year to prompt us in where we need to go and what we need to do over the next three years. A key word has emerged in our shared reflections on His leading and that is growth - growth that is both big in its impact of loving others in the community in which we live and deep in pursuing our purpose as a church and as individuals of loving God. |
