Cambodia Support

ImageA big thank you to all who have contributed to giving the many children in Cambodia a better Christmas by filling a shoebox for Operation Christmas Child. We collected 195 boxes last year. Another way to helping our brothers and sisters in Christ in Cambodia is by purchasing a hand made card, made by the poorest, so they can earn a wage and become more self-sufficient, while giving them more hope for the future. Purchase of craft items made by Cambodians is another way in which you can support the people.

HVBC also supports Barry Higgins and Fiona Morgan who work in rehabilitation and mediation. By purchasing a project ranging from $8 - $135 you can help them help the people of Cambodia.

Cambodia

Our overseas focus is the country and people of Cambodia. We are committed to support the work of Barry Higgins, Fiona Morgan and Philippa Miner.  Fiona and Barry have served in Cambodia since 2001, always doing their best to express God's compassion for people in their lifestyles, attitudes, words, actions and reactions.

Barry

Decades of war and conflict have left, physical, emotional and spiritual scars on many Cambodians.  For the past five years, Barry has been working with the local churches to establish Peace Bridges - an organisation committed to building peace in families, communities and churches.

"Seeing the 40 graduates of Peace Bridges' one year certificate course - in conflict counselling and mediation - so excited about putting their new skills to use has been the highlight of my time in Cambodia. These men and women are working for "Shalom" - a just peace - in tiny churches in remote parts of the country, with troubled families in homes around the city, and with conflicted communities in rural areas."

Fiona

Fiona's vision is for the people with disabilities, often the poorest of Cambodia's poor, to enjoy the same opportunities and rights as others.  As an occupational therapist, her role is to train, support and mentor community-based rehabilitation workers and physiotherapists across four rural provinces.

"I believe that providing good quality rehabiltation and support services to children and adults is an expression of God's love for all people. This is particularly the case for the oppressed and marginalised - those with whom Jesus spent so much of his time."

Philippa Miner

Pip and her team are involved with youth development, using sport as a means to develop relationships with youth and present them with the message of Christ.
