Women @ HVBCWomen meet together in a number of ways, from the informal as mums gather together at Playtime to recognised groups like BodyLife, Know Your Bible and the young women's life group. If you are involved in Playtime, you will find there are regular Mums Night Outs to relax and get to know each other and the women who attend on other days without the need to look out for what the kids are doing. Special events are organised throughout the year involving special speakers, craft activities, gingerbread house making and the annual women's retreat.

BodyLife is just one of our Life Groups and this one caters for women who are available to meet every Thursday in the conference room at HVBC between 10am and noon (the ending is very flexible!). It is for women of any age or status, from any or no church. Our vision is for women to grow in the Lord, and to care and pray for each other as they see themselves as part of the Body and mutually dependant and responsible for each other. When we meet we share our needs and items for praise, answers to prayer etc. then pray and praise our way through them. We usually go out for coffee or some other activity each term. We do have a lot of fun together. Barbara and Carol are the leaders. Barbara: "Both of us felt the Lord calling us to women's ministry - and we told Mark who told us to get together. This was definitely God's plan, as we became firm friends and prayer partners." Barbara was with the group from the very beginning. Carol joined HVBC when they worshipped at Glossodia School. Carol: "I have definitely grown in my faith - in studying, listening to others' stories and watching them grow. And by sharing in the lives and ministries of some of the women." Barbara: "Needing to lead and trying to be a spiritual example and mentor requires keeping spiritually alive and fit. Seeing answers to specific prayer has been a great blessing, and the growth and commitment to serving the Lord of a number of the women has also been an inspiration and another cause of growth of faith." Any woman can join. You can come and go as you please. Testing it out is a good way of finding if it is the right place.

KYB is part of "Christian Women Communicating International ". All KYB groups study the same book at the same time. The workbook is divided into chapters to suit the school terms, and includes an introduction, questions to be answered at home each week, and a summary at the end of each chapter. When the group meets, the leader does a short introduction, then we discuss our answers, followed by a conclusion prepared by the leader. A short prayer time follows, then morning tea. I have found the studies to be excellent, particularly the summaries at the end of each chapter. We would like to invite all ladies to join us. If you would like any more information, please ring the church office. |
