Women meet together in a number of ways, from the informal as mums gather together at Playtime to recognised groups like Know Your Bible and the young women's life group. If you are involved in Playtime, you will find there are regular Mums Night Outs to relax and get to know each other and the women who attend on other days without the need to look out for what the kids are doing. Special events are organised throughout the year involving special speakers, craft activities, gingerbread house making and the annual women's retreat.
If you are available through the week on Friday, there's an opportunity to meet up for a morning tea with coffe, tea and goodies to eat in a home in the district. Keep an eye out fotr the dates and the venues.
Women also head away for a 2 day retreat where a guest speaker is invited to sow into the lives of those gathered. The retreat also involves a bunch of fun activities and time to get to know other women across all the generations.
BodyLife is just one of our Life Groups and this one caters for women who are available to meet every Thursday in the conference room at HVBC between 10am and noon (the ending is very flexible!). It is for women of any age or status, from any or no church. Our vision is for women to grow in the Lord, and to care and pray for each other as they see themselves as part of the Body and mutually dependant and responsible for each other. When we meet we share our needs and items for praise, answers to prayer etc. then pray and praise our way through them. We usually go out for coffee or some other activity each term. We do have a lot of fun together.
In what has become a tradition, women from the Hawkesbury and beyond gather in early December to construct a decorated gingerbread house. Obviously, there's a kit of materials to get you started and a selection of lollies etc. to assist in the decorations. It's a great night with a finished product to take away at the end. There's an opportunity to get to know others in an atmosphere of fun. Obviously materials need to be ordered and it's important to commit to register for the event. If you find you are unable to come, you will still be able to pick up your kit.
KYB is part of "Christian Women Communicating International ". All KYB groups study the same book at the same time. The workbook is divided into chapters to suit the school terms, and includes an introduction, questions to be answered at home each week, and a summary at the end of each chapter. When the group meets, the leader does a short introduction, then we discuss our answers, followed by a conclusion prepared by the leader. A short prayer time follows, then morning tea. I have found the studies to be excellent, particularly the summaries at the end of each chapter.
We would like to invite all ladies to join us. If you would like any more information, please ring the church office.
